David Clayton-Thomas, the powerful voice behind Blood, Sweat & Tears, has died at 84.
The singer, best known for leading the band through its most successful era, passed away peacefully on June 24 in Toronto. No cause of death has been released.
Clayton-Thomas helped define the band’s signature sound, bringing grit and soul to hits like “Spinning Wheel,” “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” and “And When I Die.”
After joining Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1968, he led them to massive success, including a Grammy-winning album that topped the charts and helped shape the brass-rock movement of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
